Overview

In 2001, Rod started Grapes & Grains, a small "part-time" concern dedicated to wine and beer appreciation without pretense. One of his early venues for educational tastings was our Lafayette shop's cellar, a tradition now celebrating it's eleventh anniversary.

The fourth Wednesday of every most months, we focus on the different varietals, growing regions ("appellations") and winemaking techniques that distinguish one wine from another. At least twice a year, we also feature a craft brewing seminar.  Please join us for one of our informative, interactive, and always social classes by clicking on the link below.

February tasting class:  EXTREME Ale & Cheese!

Strong beers deserve strong flavor partners... and what's better with your favorite "wee-heavy" than a nice ripe wedge of a complex cheese?  In a rare Diablo Valley entry into the 4th Annual SF Beer Week, "EXTREME" will pair several chewy, malty ales with a handful of rich & pungent cheeses specially selected by our staff "cheese-ologist", Kelly Christensen.  Discover how this decadent duo makes the perfect companion to a cold winter's night.  All you need now is a nice warm fire - or a trusty ride home!
